The many WRA crew programs provide opportunities for members to learn and apply many levels of rowing that include physical fitness, competitive conditioning and character building. Coxswains (cox for short) are a special niche in rowing that not only steer the boat but also offers a chance to excel mentally and improve leadership and decision making skills. Currently based on the Little Arkansas River in Riverside park and also rowing on the Big Arkansas River in downtown Wichita, the club owns a number of sculling shells and other equipment for the use of its members. Proper maintenance of the equipment and safety are priorities of the club. Club members also offer sculling lessons throughout the spring, summer and fall, as well as high school rowing program and masters program. Club rows, both formal and informal, are scheduled throughout the year. All sculling/sweep class fees apply 100% toward club dues.
We invite you to e-mail us or call us to visit the Ralph Wulz Tennis Center 551 N. Nims in Riverside Park to gain a better understanding of the benefits of rowing.
