[Frostbite Regatta]
18th Annual Frostbite Regatta
November 1st, 2009

Plans are already underway for the 18th Annual Frostbite Regatta set for November 1th on the Little Arkansas River. There were over 500 athletes last year; this year should only be bigger and better. Tim Zepick was the 2008 regatta chairman and with Don Wadsworth are coordinating this year's event. If you know of any organization or business, which may be interested in being a sponsor, please get that information to Tim or Don at wichita_ frostbite@yahoo.com so that they may contact them.

Volunteers are also needed to help the day of the race to help with packets, start and finish lines, bridges, etc. (as well as the pasta dinner the night before). Even if you have not helped with a regatta before, it's a lot of fun (even if you have to keep some sense of humor about the weather). Talk with Tim or Don about adding your name to the list of volunteers.

High School Program Rows
Right into the Wnter and Spring

A group of high school students from this summer and fall programs have formed a crew with the goal of competing at regional regattas this spring that include an early Erg race February 21 and regional regattas in April and May at Topeka and Oklahoma city. Their winter practice, erging and wiegh training are currently in progress. Everyone is welcome to come down and check out the boat house and erg. At the first sign of spring, athletes will be conditioned and ready to row on the Arkansas river for a great spring program.

The wra high school rowing team meet Tuesday and Thursday evenings at 6:00 p.m. and Saturday mornings at 7 a.m. There is still plenty of room for interested kids. Please contact Brian Adamson at 652-8833 or adamson.email@gmail.com if you know of anyone who may want to join.
